Brocolli has been proven effective as a food medicine against cancer, heart disease, and a host of other serious illnesses. There are two chemicals in particular found in Brocoilli which are powerful cancer fighting substances – Sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol. Sulforaphane gives cancer causing chemicals a swift left right hook. First it destroys any carcinogenic compounds that youv’e ingested and then it destroys any carcinogens left over from that reaction. According to a recent study by Johns Hopkins University, Sulforaphane kills the bacteria H.pylori, which causes ulcers and greatly increases the risk of gastric cancers. Indole-3-carbinol helps your body metabolize estrogen, potentially warding off breast cancer.
